The Eastview Wildcats are unstoppable on their home floor.
As one of eight teams taking part in the junior girls volleyball city championship, held at Eastview’s two gyms on Jan. 16, the Wildcats came out on top in a Barrie high-school showdown.
Eastview and the St. Joan of Arc Knights emerged from the Pool A competition, which also featured the Innisdale Invaders and St. Joseph’s Jaguars. In Pool B, The St. Peter’s Panthers and Bear Creek Kodiaks each had enough points to advance to the final four, ahead of the Barrie North Vikings and Nantyr Shores Tritons.
The semifinals saw the Pool A winners move on, creating a rematch of a round-robin contest that ended in a draw. In the finals though, Eastview would pull away and take the city championship.
The next time the city championship finalists are set to meet is at the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association final, tentatively scheduled for Feb. 26.
