Yikes is a newly-formed comedy troupe based in Barrie. Founded by Noah Hollinshead, Devon Humphries and Jaelynn Brooks, all have varying theatrical experience with groups such as South Simcoe Theatre, KCP and Moving Art.

Tasked with writing, directing, producing and performing their own show, the group creates and presents a high-level comedic performance for the community. It’s been a tremendous learning experience for the trio and they look to carry their skills into future theatrical endeavours.

Their first show, Why So Serious? is a sketch-comedy show based on taking yourself too seriously. Featuring a cast of six local young performers, including Konnor Roe, Abby Millson, Ffion Krommus and the three troupe founders, the show pokes a little fun at many outrageous situations in which that happens.

“We hope that you come out and laugh with us,” says Hollinshead. “Because in this crazy world, constantly surrounded by the Internet, laughter can really do us some good.”

Why So Serious? runs Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at The Loft Art Space, 125 Anne St. S., Barrie.

Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by emailing yikescomedy@gmail.com or purchased at the door as available.
