Treat yourself to Art for Lunch at the MacLaren Art Centre

Bring your lunch or buy one in the Gallery Café and learn about an art-related topic at the free Friday afternoon speaker series.

Enjoy an engaging talk with regional artist Max Lupo on Friday, June 14, 12:15 to 1 pm at the Rotary Education Centre. In his artistic practice, Lupo employs information technologies to transform outmoded objects into new and unexpected devices. As the artist comments, “I want to find meaning in process, value in translation, and creativity in discarded or incongruous things.” This artist talk is in anticipation of his participation in What is here has echoed – a group exhibition opening at the MacLaren Art Centre on July 4.

Max Lupo earned his Interdisciplinary MA in Art, Media and Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and a BFA from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops in partnership with Georgian College, Barrie. He has exhibited his work at the Gibson Centre, Alliston; Open Space Gallery, Toronto; and Georgian College’s Campus Gallery, Barrie. Devoted to his local arts community, Lupo founded Art in House, Barrie and works as an educator at Georgian College, Barrie and the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. Max  lives in Newmarket.
