One thing really does lead to another. YPT’s (Young People’s Theatre) critically-acclaimed, award-winning show for babies will be in Barrie Jan. 19.
“We are extremely excited about the project and how it develops a new audience while promoting role-playing as part of everyday life. Very simple, yet fresh,” said Arkady Spivak, artistic producer of Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT).
Developed from an original concept, research and theme by Maja Ardal in a collective collaboration by Ardal, Audrey Dwyer, Mary Francis Moore, and Julia Tribe, One Thing Leads to Another received two Dora Mavor Moore Awards in 2016 for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Performance, Ensemble. This production features performers Maja Ardal and Malindi Ayienga.
It is an innovative work of theatre created specifically for infants. The show, called One Thing Leads to Another, transforms everyday objects into fabulous, fanciful, theatrical phenomena as it engages, stimulates and delights babies and adults alike.
As they develop and thrive, infants use all of their senses to learn about the world. In this production, performers engage with these youngest of audience members using music, enticing visuals, and tactile experiences. When the show is over, babies and caregivers can explore the set and experiment with objects from the play, enhancing their own individual experience.
TIFT presents One Thing Leads to Another at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie. Performances are Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. Call 705-739-4228 for tickets.
