On June 8, Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School invites the public to join them for a celebration of Canada’s 150th. The school will host an evening of Canadian activities, music and food. Local firefighters will be on hand to help with the cooking.
“We are very excited to celebrate Canada’s culture with our students and the community. The students have prepared Canadian artwork, facts and history to be displayed in the halls of the school,” says Paula Marengeur, Teacher-Librarian, Tecumseth Beeton ES. “The event will showcase where our families have visited in Canada and what places still need to be explored!”
The Neema Children’s Choir from Uganda, Africa will also take part in the event with a concert beginning at 7 p.m. The Neema Children’s Choir is a group of students, ages 8 to 17, who come to Canada to raise awareness and funds for children in their country. The mission of the choir is to raise money through donations to feed, clothe and send children to school in Uganda, in hopes of a better future for their youth.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School, located at 43 Patterson St. in Beeton. All attending are invited to wear red and white to help celebrate Canada.
