Explore Barrie waterfront

Summer is here and it’s time to get out and explore the many Barrie activities going on by the lakeshore. From diverse water sports to beautiful beaches, Barrie has much to offer.

Interested in fun and adventure? Try stand-up paddle boarding on Kempenfelt Bay. Take a lesson, tour or rent a paddleboard. See Happy Paddling and Northern SUP at Centennial Beach, all summer long, for rentals and lessons perfect for the whole family.

If sailing is your thing, enjoy the beauty of Kempenfelt Bay aboard a stunning sailing yacht. Captain Phil, of Chances R Sailing Excursions, will tour you around the bay and show you how beautiful Barrie is from the open water.

A more tranquil adventure on the water can be had by exploring the bay by canoe or kayak. Happy Paddling, at Centennial Beach, will teach you the basic skills you need to be safe and have fun.

Fans of the more extreme should check out Barrie watersports this summer and ride the wake. SurfWakeSki – Barrie Watersports has the skills and experience to teach every level of rider whether you choose to surf, wake or ski.

If fishing is part of your summertime plan, Kempenfelt Bay is home to perch, smallmouth bass, whitefish and lake trout. Fish along the shoreline or call in the professionals to take you to the hot spots on Lake Simcoe. Heels Recreational Fishing Services offers custom packages for a day on the water.

Need a little excitement? Try out Barrie’s newest waterfront attraction, Splash On Water Park, an inflatable obstacle course.

As well, Centennial Beach is a place to beat the summer heat and spend an afternoon cooling off. Build sand castles, swim in Kempenfelt Bay or relax on the sandy shore.
