For Valentine’s Day, say ‘I love you’ with a song. Send a Singing Valentine with a live quartet or try and e-Valentine which is a new venture for the Barrie County Chordsmen (BCC).
The a capella vocal group sings in the barbershop style and the Singing Valentine’s program is one of the major fundraisers. The BCC is hoping to raise $2500 through Singing Valentines this year.
The BCC marked their 40th Anniversary here in Barrie back in 2016. Their primary charity is Harmonize 4 Speech, an organization that helps fund speech related projects in Ontario through hospitals, schools, and clinics (Aphasia, Communicative Disorders, Speech Pathology training). This support is represented right here in Barrie with ongoing funding for the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program at the Health, Wellness and Sciences Centre at Georgian College.
Since it was founded in 1977, Harmonize 4 Speech has received over 5 Million dollars in funding from Ontario Barbershop Chapters including the Barrie group. Funds are also raised through performances at events, the group’s annual show, and programs such as Singing Valentines.
Order a Singing Valentine through the BCC website at www. barriecountychordsmen.com. One of the team will contact you to get the recipient’s information and book the time for the delivery. One of our quartets will go out to the home, office, school, etc. in Barrie on either February 13th or 14th and present the recipient with a rose in a vase, a personalized greeting card, and sing two love songs in beautiful four-part harmony. All for the low cost of only $50.
This year, the BCC is also offering e-Valentines. For people wishing to send a valentine to someone outside of Barrie, there is a customized professionally recorded video, Valentine. The video includes a poem customized for the recipient embedded into the video of the quartet singing a love song. These e-Valentines are available for only $20.
