School events raise $3.5 million for Terry Fox Foundation

“Anything is possible if you try” ~ Terry Fox

Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools and facilities have raised a total of more than $3.54 million, to date, for the Terry Fox Foundation through runs, walks and fundraising activities. In the 2017-18 school year, schools, learning centres and the education centre raised $211,698.

“The amount of funds that our students, staff and communities have raised over the years for Terry Fox is truly incredible,” said Steve Blake, education director. “The SCDSB’s unwavering commitment in support of Terry Fox’s quest to eliminate cancer is to be commended.”

Terry Fox often said it was the youth who would carry his efforts forward and work toward a world without cancer. Millions of students across Canada take part in the Terry Fox School Run every year raising funds for cancer research, making it one of the largest fundraising events in Canadian history.
