Former National Hockey League players Ethan Moreau and Shayne Corson, along with Juno-nominated band Bleeker, will be part of the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour that will come to Orillia for a two-day event at the Orillia Waterfront Centre on November 4-5.
Orillia was chosen as one of 24 Canadian communities comprising the 2017-2018 Rogers Tour.
It will be televised on Sportsnet during the Nov. 5 game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks in Chicago. Included in the broadcast will be a pre-taped interview with hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone in conversation with Orillia music legend Gordon Lightfoot. There will also be a feature about the onetime Bobby Orr/Mike Walton Sports Camp on the shores of Lake Couchiching.
Each city that is part of the tour features special guests, musical acts and other attractions. The complete details are usually finalized about three weeks prior to the event’s arrival.
“Rogers Hometown Hockey connects Canadians all across the country,” said MacLean. “Every Sunday, we pull out the hockey roadmap and discover a part of Canada and ourselves.”
“It’s amazing to me that we are on season four of Rogers Hometown Hockey and there are still so many wonderful places in this country that we have left to discover,” said Slone. “We have been welcomed so graciously by Canadians from coast-to-coast and I’m looking forward to feeling that warmth, hospitality and excitement from this year’s group of hometowns.”
