The County of Simcoe, in partnership with local emergency response units, Canadian Forces Base Borden and representatives from the health unit and area hospitals, will be executing a planned hazardous material emergency response exercise on Sept. 21.
The exercise will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with planned activities occurring at the Nottawasaga Landfill (Clearview Township) and the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Additional training will occur at the locations until 3 p.m.
With a larger emergency response presence in the area during the event, the public is reminded this is an exercise only to test the regional Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Incident Response Team plans and strategies. Regular operations at the landfill and the hospital will not be disrupted during the exercise.
