Proper dog licensing plays a critical role in helping pets return home safely

Town of New Tecumseth officials are reminding residents they are required to license their dog annually. All dog licenses expire 365 days from the date of purchase or from the date of the previous license expiry – whichever is later.

The DocuPet licensing program offers a number of benefits, including a proven lost pet system that has already returned seven New Tecumseth dogs to their owners. The system also includes online pet profiles and a rewards program.

Licenses can be purchased online at newtecumseth.docupet.com; over the phone with credit card payment, by calling 1-855-249-1370 (toll free) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; in person by visiting town hall at 10 Wellington St. E., Alliston or the Joint Operations Centre at 6558 8th Line, County Road 1, Beeton or at participating vendor locations, listed online at newtecumseth.ca/residents/services/dog-tags.

“If you no longer have your pet, or if you have moved out of town it is important to let the town or DocuPet know so that we can update our records,” said Meagan McLean, DocuPet customer service representative.
