The Orillia Fire Department is urging residents in Orillia to be their family’s hero by planning and practicing their emergency escape. This year’s Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 6-12, will focus on preparing quick exit plans and testing early warning devices.
“Making sure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working is just the beginning,” said Brent Thomas, Acting Fire Chief for the City of Orillia. “You can be your family’s hero by planning and practicing an escape so everyone knows what to do when the alarms activate.”
To share this important message, the Orillia Fire Department will be participating in a Fire Prevention Week kick-off event with Home Depot in Orillia on Saturday, October 5 from 10 am to 2 pm, which will include a live-burn demonstration to showcase the power of fire.
Be a modern fire fighter by helping to prevent fires before they happen, knowing what to do when the alarm sounds and always have an escape plan.
