Paramedics continue fundraising push for cardiology

County of Simcoe Paramedic Services is joining forces with the Royal Victoria Health (RVH) Centre and Peak FM to host the Paramedic Push, a stretcher-push fundraiser along Highway 26 from Stayner to Midhurst on Sept. 14. Funds raised will go toward the RVH advanced cardiac care program.

The grassroots initiative, led by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, is in its second year, having pushed a stretcher from Midland to Midhurst in 2017. The team of paramedic volunteers are looking forward to another successful fundraising and awareness event as they push for better care closer to home.

RVH Foundation representatives will be on hand to accept donations at the County of Simcoe administration centre throughout the day. Donations can also be made online at foundation.rvh.on.ca/events/upcoming-events/paramedic-push.

“Advanced cardiac programming within this region, once fully developed, will allow patients from across the county and beyond to access this gold standard of care,” said Deputy Warden Terry Dowdall. “Our County of Simcoe paramedics understand the importance of this program and want to aid in its continued development and funding through the paramedic push.”

“Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is committed to ensuring residents of this region can get the care they need closer to home, “ says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “In early-2018, we opened the Simcoe Muskoka regional heart program with two state-of-the-art catheterization suites providing diagnostic angiograms and, soon, scheduled angioplasties. When it comes to the heart, time is muscle and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services is key to ensuring timely, lifesaving cardiac care. RVH’s paramedic partners are further demonstrating their commitment to residents’ healthcare by raising awareness and funds for RVH’s cardiac program through the second paramedic push event.”
