Life really does change one step at a time. Andrew Prashad turned his journey with his son into an unique show, complete with music and dance.
In One Step at a Time Prashad, one of Canada’s leading tap dance artists, shares his and his wife’s journey of caring for a young son diagnosed with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Prashad, a stay at home father learns to balance a successful career in the performing arts raising two daughters and anticipating the arrival of a son, Ezra.
He used monologues, original songs, and improvisational tap dance in the show. After the show, there is a ‘Talk Back’ with updates on Ezra and a Meet & Greet.
Because the production is so touching, Theatre Collingwood moved it from their traditional space to a more intimate venue at the Simcoe Street Theatre. It is moving and uplifting look into the power of what love, faith, and teamwork can do.
Scott Hurst produced and directed the show, with music direction by Jeannie Wyse. Prashad is an award-winning actor, composer, and writer. His self- produced short film was officially selected in 12 festivals around the world and won four awards including Best Short Film.
Prashad was a featured singer and dancer on the 20th Anniversary World Tour of Riverdance and followed it by performing in Drayton Entertainment’s Anything Goes. Additional shows range from Young People’s Theatre to Ed Mirvish Theatre, where he starred in Juke Box Hero.
One Step at a Time unfolds April 4-5 at 8 p.m. The matinee show is sold out.
