New trustee appointed at Catholic Board

New school trustee appointed at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. Joe Zerdin is the trustee for Ward 1 Barrie effective immediately.

“The selection process was extensive, and we were pleased to receive so many qualified applicants,” said Carol Corriveau-Truchon, Board Chair. “The trustees look forward to having Joe at the Board table – throughout the process, we were impressed with his commitment to Catholic education, especially through his active participation on school and community councils.”

“Joe’s appointment to this position comes at a good time since we are busy with budget deliberations and many end of year student and staff celebrations,” said Corriveau-Truchon. “We are thrilled to be back at full strength at such a critical time for education, and we certainly look forward to the experience he will bring to the table.”

“I have been involved with Catholic education as a volunteer at the school level for the past 14 years. When the opportunity to serve as trustee arose, I felt a calling to take the next step,” said Zerdin. “I feel honoured and blessed to play such an integral role in supporting Catholic education in my community.”

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board has 50 schools and provides a faith-filled learning environment to approximately 22,000 students.
