Artistic producer Arkady Spivak has an expanded 2019-20 season planned for Talk is Free Theatre (TIFT). At the heart of it is a five-play subscription season for Barrie.
It opens with the wildly slick Broadway classic Pal Joey in October. Centering on the character Joey Evans, a wily but ambitious small-time nightclub owner who dreams of glamour and power, the show features songs such as “I Could Write a Book” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”.
TIFT has a unique take for the next show, partnering with members of the youth mentorship program for a lightly-staged production intertwining stories starring the well-known Brothers Grimm characters from Into The Woods.
Fresh from sold-out engagements all over the UK, Gypsy Queen makes its North American Debut Nov.27–30 in Barrie.
The new year kicks off with a double bill starring Mike Nadajewski and The Plural of She wraps up the season with six original solo works, developed and performed by an all-female collective.
Tickets and subscriptions are available through www.tift.ca or by calling 705-792-1949.
