Representatives from Toronto Pearson International Airport joined a delegation of southern Ontario’s airports for an international mission to the Paris Air Show in June.
The delegation, hosted by the Southern Ontario Airport Network (SOAN), of which Toronto Pearson is a member, consists of airport representatives from several of the SOAN membership, including Hamilton, Sarnia, Peterborough and London, Ontario.
Southern Ontario’s aviation community is also represented by economic development officials and municipal leaders including Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman and Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, head of the recently-launched Southern Ontario Municipal Aerospace Council.
While in Paris, the SOAN delegation, including Howard Eng, president and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), met with industry and government leaders, global aerospace players and business stakeholders, with a goal to raise awareness of the robust aerospace industry centered in Southern Ontario and to showcase the wide variety of unique facilities and assets available in this region.
“Southern Ontario’s airport assets are diverse and offer plentiful options for businesses to invest in our region,” said Eng. “Anchored by Canada’s most connected airport, Toronto Pearson, aerospace and aviation related businesses have the opportunity to operate in vibrant, growing communities while maintaining excellent access to the U.S. and global markets.”
