Matt Andersen & The Mellotones make a stop in Orillia, part of a four-date tour. It is in honour of his latest album, his 10th, Halfway Home by Morning, released last summer.
Matt Andersen has garnered worldwide acclaim as a powerhouse performer. He’s headlined major festivals, clubs, and theatres throughout North America, Europe and Australia, and amassed over 18 million views on YouTube.
The singer, songwriter, and guitarist is a six-time Maple Blues award winner for Male Vocalist of the Year. Where Andersen goes, spontaneous standing ovations follow.
Andersen will be appearing on stage with The Mellotones, an R&B, funk and soul band.
Amy Helm, daughter of The Band’s legendary drummer and singer Levon Helm and singer-songwriter Libby Titus, is opening for the Ontario portion of the tour. Whether raw and raunchy, or gentle and tender, the country, blues, and gospel singer is known for pouring feeling into every note.
All of it unfolds on May 8 at the Orillia Opera House, 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $48, available at the box office 705-326-8011.
