Local photographers recognized at first-ever #PictureBarrie Showcase event

The City of Barrie held it’s first-ever #PictureBarrie Showcase event on Monday, January 14 in the First Floor Gallery of City Hall. Mayor Jeff Lehman, Council members and senior staff, 9 photographers and their families, along with local media, were present to celebrate the photos that were selected to be featured in the 2019 Community Information and Waste Reduction calendar. The 12 photographers whose images were chosen were recognized by the Mayor for their talent, skill and civic pride. The other three photographers featured in the City of Barrie’s 2019 Community Information and Waste Reduction calendar were not able to attend the event, but will receive a certificate and special #PictureBarrie pin, as were the photographers in attendance at the event.

The #PictureBarrie Photo Challenge invited residents to share Barrie through their eyes. Images that were submitted on the City’s website or via social media using #PictureBarrie will be considered for use in future City marketing or communication materials.

The photos are on display to the public in City Hall’s First Floor Gallery for the month of January. For more information, visit barrie.ca/PublicArt.
