New gazebo for local hospice

On June 9, a team of volunteers from Honda showed their community spirit and support during Honda Canada Cares Week of Service by constructing the new gazebo at the Matthews House Hospice new facility at 131 Wellington Street East in Alliston.

Team lead Sheila Goodfellow organized two teams to help build the gazebo kit. Named in honour of Jim Milligan, the gazebo stands in the newly-planted gardens. Jim’s widow, Nancy, provided the volunteer group with a homemade lunch.

“It was a great day and I’m still in awe over what was accomplished in only eight hours,” said Honda associate Julie Ellsworth. “Many hands definitely do make light work. The gazebo is beautiful.”

The group invites the community to come out and experience the new gardens and gazebo at the ribbon cutting, starting a 1 p.m. on June 21.
