Local bash raises $21,000 for RVH’s tiniest patients

Snow Valley Resort’s 32nd annual Mash Bash ski and snowboard day in support of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) held earlier this year was a phenomenal success.

The epic party raised $21,305 to support the purchase of specialized equipment for RVH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Each year more than 2,000 babies are born at RVH and this new equipment contributes to the health centre’s focus on family-centred care and improved patient experience.

Snow Valley generously donated the entire day’s lift ticket proceeds to the health centre raising more than $561,000 for RVH and patient care over the 32 years. Highlights of the day included Zorb Valley with Jack’s Urban Jungle; Mini tube slide; Bedpan Races, Slime Creation Station, Target Challenge; ‘Rough Draught’ rocked the patio with an outdoor concert, while Dazzling Darren kept the crowd entertained all day.

Those in attendance will remember the biggest laughs were reserved for participants of the infamous and ever-popular Bedpan Races. During the Bedpan Races, organized by 101.1 BIG FM and 93.1 FRESH RADIO, the winner of the media/celebrity race was Doug Downey, MPP Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte. In the mascot race, Pita Pete from Pita Pit Barrie, slid over the finish line with ease and speed to win. In the Tug of War, CFB Borden took on the joint team of the County of Simcoe Paramedics, Springwater Fire and RVH’s Security. The winning team of Simcoe Paramedics, Springwater Fire and RVH Security proudly took the trophy home.
