Author Doug Gardham will be in Barrie this month for a book signing at Chapters. It is in honour of his new novel The Musician, a sequel to The Actor.
The Musician is a story of music, the spontaneity of creating and performing it. It continues the story of Ethan Jones’s struggle to figure out who and what he is and a family is struggling to stay together because of it. It takes on some thriller aspects as the young man has emerged from a delusion, ready to embrace a new chapter that includes his love of music and confronting unfinished business from his past.
Gardham, who lives in Alliston, has been writing for most of his life. It was a creative outlet for him – lyrics for his band’s original songs in high school, poetry, short stories, novels and when he wrote The Actor, he knew he had something special.
Inspired by the movie Titanic, The Actor tells the story of Ethan Jones as he lands his dream role in a movie only to have his life take a right hand turn.
His second book The Drive In followed. It started out as a couple of short stories and became a collection inspired by the places he saw every day for 20 years – yet knew nothing about – on his commute from Alliston to Bolton.
The Musician, The Actor, and The Drive In can be purchased at indigo-Chapters, Amazon and Barnes & Noble on-line or in-store.
Gardham will be at Chapters in Barrie Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21 starting at 12 noon.
