The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) Pumpkin Fest is returning for its second year from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Henderson Memorial Park, located on Line 9 just west of Sideroad 10.
All activities are free, including an inflatable corn maze, games, music, entertainment, pumpkin carving, crafts, wagon rides, face painting and more. The entertainment includes performances and shows by Russ Clayton, Team T & J, JoJo Fun and The Argues. Food and drink will be available for sale at the site.
This year’s event features the town fitness department’s new fall fundraiser, Dri Tri: Run, Row, Rep Challenge. The fundraiser, in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, includes a 1.5-kilometre run, 1250-metre row and a combination of body weight exercises. Dri Tri is open to anyone age 13 and up but registration must be made in advance at the Fitness Centre (upstairs at the BWG Leisure Centre) no later than Oct. 5.
Bradford Farmer’s Market patrons won’t want to miss this event. Market vendors will be extending their schedule by one week in order to set up at Henderson Park for Pumpkin Fest.
As well, a barbeque lunch, hosted by the Bradford Lions, will be raising money to support local community projects (most recently, including the Henderson Memorial Park field house). The First Bradford Scouts will be on hand to host Apple Day, an annual event that provides Scouting youth with an opportunity to show their appreciation to the community for their year-round support by giving away apples. Donations are gratefully accepted and all money raised will go toward improving the Scouting program.
Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank.
