In Simcoe County, there’s an opportunity to put on the pads and gain some gridiron knowledge from high-level players and coaches.

St. Joan of Arc and St. Joseph’s high schools are putting on a spring football camp on June 2 for players in Grades 8-12. The program, which will take place at St. Joan of Arc High School (460 Mapleton Avenue, Barrie), is a non-contact, full-day camp where participants will get the chance to learn techniques from Canadian Football League and USports players, as well as university coaches. The program is free of charge and lunch will also be provided.

Players are expected to sign out their own helmets and shoulder pads from their respective high schools. For players still in Grade 8, they can sign out equipment through St. Joan of Arc.

Everyone is expected to report to the camp by 9:30 a.m. Training begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3:30 p.m.

Those interested in taking part should contact Erik Scott (escott@smcdsb.on.ca) or Paul Harrington (pharrington@smcdsb.on.ca).
