Young people in Innisfil have until December 4 to apply to become a member of the Youth Connex Committee (YCC).
The group meets regularly and provides a link between local youth, town council and other community partners. YCC also promotes youth initiatives and programs in Innisfil as well as developing priorities and action plans that are undertaken throughout the term.
Comprised of students enrolled in Grades 8 through 12, the YCC provides advice on youth issues to council as well as encouraging young people to take part in initiatives that can improve life in Innisfil. The YCC also hosts a Youth Summit each year along with other workshops and forums.
The YCC commitment is for an eight month term that starts immediately. Members may reapply each year and hours will contribute to fulfilling volunteer time required for high school graduation. Meetings are held after school, on the second Thursday of each month, at various locations. Members will hold various roles on the committee such as co-chairs, social media co-ordinator and note taker.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Jodi Longland by email at email@example.com or by calling 705-436-3740.
