Impaired driver failed to remain

A 32-year-old Innisfil man is facing numerous charges including impaired driving following a fail-to-remain collision in York Region.

About 2:30 p.m. on July 3, York Regional Police received a report of a three-vehicle collision in the Yonge St. and Bathurst St. area. A child and an adult were transported to hospital for treatment.

The accused fled the scene of the collision and a witness, who contacted police, followed the vehicle. A number of witnesses also called to report a vehicle driving erratically.

South Simcoe Police Service was notified as the fleeing vehicle entered their jurisdiction. The accused was arrested at his home at Innisfil. Officers detected the smell of alcohol and issued a demand for a breathalyzer test. The man was transported to North Division where further testing resulted in readings of over 80.

The man was charged with impaired care or control of a motor vehicle, over 80 mgs, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with a recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
