Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) received a $62,500 donation from the Honda Canada Foundation, in support of the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Mental Health Program.
“The Honda Canada Foundation understands the urgent need for care closer to home for children and youth in the region,” said John Byles, RVH Foundation chair. “The gift will directly impact youth in our region who need acute mental health care.”
The unit features eight inpatient beds, a child and youth-friendly décor and a day program so kids can get the help they need and return home at night. Child and youth mental health is one of five areas of focus in the health centre’s Hearts & Minds campaign, along with advanced cardiac care, women’s cancer services, teaching and research. The campaign recently achieved $24.5 million of its $25 million goal.
