The Georgian Grizzlies handed out some hardware after an excellent year across the board.
Men’s volleyball player Darien Haynes won the Cloutier Cup after an outstanding season for both he and the Grizzlies.
Haynes, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Barrie, led Georgian to its third straight Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) East Division title, and set a provincial college record for career blocks in the process.
The Greer Trophy, which goes to the top female athlete, was split between badminton teammates Courtney Brewer and Michelle Kozlowskyj, who went 5-0 at OCAA Regionals before earning a bronze medal at the provincial tournament.
Domenica De Francesco, a women’s volleyball player, and Tennyson Brown, who suited up for the men’s rugby team, were each named Rookie of the Year.
Meanwhile, Donovan Jacko took home the Howard/Belcourt Award, which goes to an athlete that displays outstanding sportsmanship, dedication, commitment, attitude and leadership.
Mohammed Elwan, who played for the men’s indoor soccer team, earned the McKillican Trophy for his work with the Athletic Department and Georgian’s recreational soccer league.
