Get the scoop on being a police officer

There’s nothing like getting the backstory on something that you see every day.

Barrie Police Service is pulling back the curtains and is looking for applicants for their own citizen police. The eight-session Citizen Police Academy runs on Wednesday evenings (6:30 to 9 p.m.) from May 2nd to June 20, with an official graduation on June 27. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have no criminal record.  The class will be limited to 15 participants, with preference being given to applicants living in the City of Barrie.  Due to the sensitive nature of the material to be presented, police checks will be completed on all applicants.

Speakers from various police units will share information in their area of expertise, including the Training, Forensic Identification, Marine, and Traffic, Fraud, K9, Homicide and Tactical units.

Interested applicants should email their contact information, along with a brief explanation of why they are interested in participating in the program to PC Julie Reynolds at citizenpoliceacademy@barriepolice.ca no later than April 10.
