The puck is all set to drop on the 5th Annual Start Talking Cup.
The popular event that helps create mental health awareness for youth takes to the ice on Jan. 15 at the Holly Recreation Centre.
Tickets are just $5.
A dream of Jim Harris and John Kelly, which has continued to grow year after year, aims to shine the spotlight on the mental health of young hockey player and youth in the community, as well as helping to break the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Workshops focused on mental health awareness are provided to all players and parents by Canadian Mental Health Association Youth Counsellors.
The event has helped raise over $40,000 for mental health in the community.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the girls’ game between the Barrie Bantam ‘AA’ Sharks and Aurora Panthers beginning at 6:30 p.m.
That’s followed by a minor midget ‘AAA’ boys contest between the Barrie Colts and the North Central Predators at 8:15 p.m.
