The Barrie Colts will kick off their 25th anniversary season on the road against the North Bay Battalion on Friday, Sept. 20th.
The OHL released its full 68-game schedule for 2019-20 season on June 11th and Colts fans won’t have to wait long for the home opener. The Colts will return to the Barrie Molson Centre the next night (Sept. 21st) to host the London Knights.
Barrie got a break this season from the OHL schedule maker, having to play three games in three consecutive nights only four times this season (once in October, twice in January and once in March).
It will also be a fairly balanced schedule for the Colts, with January and February being the busiest months. Their road schedule will see them play one away game in September, six in each of October, December and March, four in November and five games in each of January and February.
January and February will see the busiest home stretch, with the Colts playing seven times each month at the BMC. Barrie will host four home games in each of the months of October, December and March. They are at home three times in September and five times in November.
The Colts usual home dates are Thursday (14 games) and Saturday (19 games), with the lone exception being the annual New Year’s Eve contest. This year’s game falls on a Tuesday night, with Barrie hosting the Guelph Storm. This marks the sixth time the Storm have been in Barrie for the holiday contest, but the first time since the 2013-14 season.
The 2019-20 OHL season officially starts on Thursday, Sept. 19 when the Niagara IceDogs host the Sudbury Wolves.
