It’s been an unbelievable regular season for Jordan Castaldo.
The Barrie Baycats slugger has put up outstanding offensive numbers as he looks all but certain to become the first Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) player to win the Triple Crown since Sean Reilly back in 2015.
It was no surprise that Castaldo was named the Rawlings Player of the Month for July.
This is the second time this year that Castaldo has won the award, also earning honours in May for his efforts.
Castaldo wrapped up his regular season with a .459 batting average, 15 home runs and 47 runs batted in, edging out teammate Kevin Atkinson in the final category.
He will officially earn Triple Crown honours so long as Reilly does not hit four home runs in his final game of the season with Guelph on Saturday.
It’s the second straight season where Castaldo has batted over .400 after posting a .403 average in 2018.
The Baycats have earned at least a tie for the pennant and await their first-round opponent in a quarter-final series to begin next week.
