Blaine Parkin returns to New Tecumseth’s CAO role

The Town of New Tecumseth is pleased to welcome Blaine Parkin back to his role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) effective Feb. 28, 2019, subsequent to a brief opportunity with the City of Barrie.

“The leadership, experience and knowledge that Blaine has of New Tecumseth is invaluable. For our business continuity, his expertise of the organization’s history and all of the plans for 2019 and beyond, having Blaine in the CAO chair to lead the town through is in the best interest of the town and the organization,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Rick Milne.

Parkin joined the town in the position of deputy CAO in 2015. He was then acting as the interim CAO from March 2017 to July 2017 when he was officially appointed to the CAO role.

Prior to working for the town, Parkin had worked with the City of Barrie for 10 years. On Jan. 16, 2019 he had returned to the City of Barrie as the General Manager of Infrastructure and Growth Management. New Tecumseth Council had then appointed General Manager/Chief Financial Officer, Lori Bedford, as the interim CAO. Bedford will remain acting in this capacity until Parkin returns to the CAO position at the end of February.

“I am excited to return to the Town of New Tecumseth and I take great honour in being welcomed back to the CAO role. The City of Barrie has a lot of wonderful people and exciting things coming up, but New Tecumseth feels like the right place for me and I look forward to continuing to work with our staff, council and the community,” Parkin said.
