Three down, eight to go.
The Barrie Baycats had no problem corralling the Burlington Herd in the first round of the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs, outscoring their opponents 23-3 in a trio of victories.
Waiting for them in the semifinals are the surprising Hamilton Cardinals, fresh off of their first full-series win in more than 15 years. Hamilton, the sixth seed, upset the London Majors in four games to advance to the second round.
The Baycats won four of five meetings with the Cardinals this season, although Hamilton was the last squad to defeat Barrie – 16 games ago.
As was the case in the quarter-finals, the Baycats will begin the series at home, hosting Game one on Aug. 16 at Coates Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The remaining schedule is as follows:
Game 2: Aug. 17 at Hamilton 7:30pm
Game 3: Aug. 19 at Barrie 7pm
Game 4: Aug. 21 at Hamilton 7:30pm
Game 5: Aug. 23 at Barrie 7:30pm
