On Sunday, April 14th The Barrie Art Club will host an Open House for Exhibitions from 1pm-3pm. This event will feature the works of various artists and is free for the public to attend. Each month the Barrie Art club showcases a featured artist, as well as a guest artist and the art of club members. The featured artist for April is Valeria Losell exhibiting her work around the theme “the crack where the light gets in”.
The themes expressed in her art are intertwined with the process of creating for Losell who explains, “Nothing delights me more than looking at an art piece I did last year or earlier and thinking, ‘I was pleased with that when I made it, but I could do it better now.’ That means I am seeing better, understanding more about how to technically convey what’s in my heart. The range of ways I can interact with the world has shrunk in many fields but in making art and writing, my life is truly moving forward. This is the crack where the light gets in for me!”
The guest artist featured in this exhibition is Liz Lasky who has been a member of the Barrie Art Club for over 5 years and also belongs to Quest Art in Midland, Ontario. Her show focuses on two areas that have inspired her over the past year, “Escarpment Vistas” and “Painted Ponies”.
Meet the artists and enjoy refreshments at this free event. To learn more about the Barrie Art Club please visit https://barrieartclub.wildapricot.org.
