Award winning local pianist plays Barrie

Pianist Abigail Johnson Gray marks her second solo concert at Barrie’s Wednesday music series  Aug. 14. The former Barrie Arts Awards Recipient has performed in the past along with other students of Cheryl Graham’s music studio.

Gray has been studying music since she was three and a half years old. She and her friends used to joke about breaking each other’s wrist so that they couldn’t play but as a grown up, she wouldn’t part with it and is happy her mother made her practice.

By age 16, the Bear Creek Secondary School student had completed her RC Grade 10 Piano examination with a First Class Honours and her RCM Elementary Piano Pedagogy. She also has her RCM Grade 8 Flute.  Over the years, she has won numerous awards and scholarships. She also teaches.

Gray will be performing works by Debussy, Bach and Rachmaninoff, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2:30 p.m., at Bethel Community Church, 128 St. Vincent St., Barrie. Admission is free.
