Preparations for the 8th annual Three Stooges Charity Golf Tournament are in full swing. Once again, three local businessmen, Dr. James Mackle, Roger Martin and Gary Witiuk have chosen Jaida’s Challenge as the beneficiary of all funds raised at their annual charity golf tournament.
Last year, $18,000 was raised at the event. The funds were used to help fund wheelchair accessible vans for three area families.
Jaida’s Challenge will continue to fund families who require assistance purchasing wheelchair accessible vans for their children throughout 2018. This year, however, they will be directing funds raised at the golf tournament to other equipment and service challenges faced by those families.
Over the past year, along with funding accessible vans, they have funded communication devices such as an iPad and an eye-gaze machine, transportation to therapy for several children, accommodations near Sick Kid’s to help manage post-surgery risk, ambulance bills not covered by OHIP and equipment to ensure the comfort and safety of children who require protection and support.
This year the tournament goal is $23,000. The organizers encourage you to support the mission to enhance the quality of life of children with special needs in our community by attending, donating a prize for the silent auction or sponsoring a hole.
Families inquiring about funding for their special needs child and those wishing to donate a prize or sponsor a hole at the tournament can email [email protected] for more details. Call (705) 434-4100 to register for this year’s golf day on June 9 at Silver Brooke Golf Club.
