The Julian Taylor Band joins the upcoming Mariposa Folk Festival. Known for a unique synthesis of soul, pop and rock, the band is fronted by award-winning singer-songwriter Julian Taylor. They are celebrating the release of a new album Avalanche.
It follows a live cover album Hey Hey Two Two and two original albums Tech Noir and Desert Star.
Born in Toronto, Taylor is a mix of West Indian and Aboriginal heritage. After a 14-year run fronting the award-winning Staggered Crossing, the band split up in 2007. He left music entirely for a period of time and playing Motown cover gigs brought him back. Then he started his own band.
Catch the Julian Taylor Band on the Main Stage Saturday, July 6 from 5:50- 6:25 p.m.
The three-day Mariposa Folk Festival features more than ten stages of the best folk-roots music on the North American scene, along with story, dance, and craft on more than 10 stages. Tent and RV camping are available.
