The Toronto All Star Big Band travels to Midland in August to perform at a fundraiser dinner and dance for the Brookside Music Festival.
The 17-piece band has garnered a following for tributes to the hits of the 1930s, ’40 s, ’50s, slick choreography and witty cultural nostalgia that includes the Big Band Era. The show features a cast of young talented musicians and singers.
Theatrical engagements are far-reaching and have included the Elliot Lake Entertainment Series, Roselawn Centre Jazz & Blues Series, Beaches International Jazz Festival, New York’s Riviera Theatre, plus an entertainment spot on national television.
They have partnered with Peter Appleyard, vibraphonist and Tommy Ambrose, vocalist to create original musical revues at the St. Lawrence Centre in Toronto, featured new shows with jazz vocalist Ranee Lee and the jazz clarinet great Buddy DeFranco; and toured throughout Florida.
Catch the Toronto All Star Big Band live on Friday, Aug. 16 at the Midland Golf & Country Club from 5-11 p.m.
Tickets are $80, available at Johnstone’s Music Land, 280 King St., Midland. For more information see www brooksidemusic.com
