The holiday season can bring more than just joy from time to time. A month full of family, social events, shopping, kids home from school, charity, carolling and a healthy heap of extra obligations doesn’t just happen by itself. The stress does add up. Often the Christmas miracle is that Christmas finds a way to happen at all. Sometimes it’s best to just find a way to laugh.
The South Simcoe Theatre has a show planned to help you do just that.
That December Show: CINDER ELLA, EH runs from November 30 tie December 10th and is a retelling of the classic Cinderella story done in the traditional ‘panto” style. A “panto’ is a farcical comedy complete with music, slapstick and special guests. The tradition comes from our British heritage where apparently no Christmas is complete without a pie in the face.
Adapted from the Original Cinderella Panto by Judith Dixon, CINDER ELLA, EH promises to take a closer look at what led up to the happily-ever-after. Sure, we all know that the beautiful girl got the handsome prince, but how exactly do a gaggle of handsome (and not so handsome) hockey players fit in? Of course the evil stepmother and stepsisters will be there, though not alone. The legendary likes of Don (Dalvador) Cherry might well grace the stage with his presence too.
The show promises an evening of laughter and holiday spirit from a uniquely Canadian perspective!
Tickets for the show are available by calling the box office at (705) 458-4432. Be sure to leave a message stating your first and last name, day and evening phone numbers, date of performance and number of tickets required. The theatre promises to return your call as soon as possible.
