Simcoe County residents will have more opportunities to buy beer at grocery stores. The provincial government has announced plans to add five more locations across the county with sales of beer and wine to begin in April.

The grocery stores that will be added include:

Food Basics, 9226 Highway 93 in Midland

Fresh Co., 55 Mountain Rd. in Collingwood

Loblaws, 11 Byrne Dr. in Barrie

Walmart, 1175 Murphy Rd. in Orillia

Walmart, 545 Holland St. W.

These stores are among 87 new grocery stores across Ontario that will be able to sell beer and cider. They will be added to the inventory of 200 existing grocery stores that can sell alcohol. All had to go through a competitive bidding process to gain selling rights.

Queen’s Park eventually aims to have 450 grocery stores that will sell beer and cider and up to 300 that will also sell wine.
