Diverse array of talent recognized at 2017 Barrie Arts Awards

Some of the brightest stars in the community were honoured for their contributions at the 2017 Barrie Arts Awards sponsored by TD Nov. 15th at the Southshore Centre. The awards covered every corner of the arts with talented individuals earning accolades in singing, film, dance, theatre, community advocacy and giving. The sold-out event presented awards in six categories; Business Champion, Contribution to the Community, Emerging Artist, Excellence in the Arts, Most Promising Youth and the recently added Artist Without Barriers. GTA Entertainment: Third time’s a charm for industry veteran and novelist, John Meyer

John Meyer, the industry veteran and head writer at ET Canada since 2005, released his third novel Nov. 17, Shadows, Shells, and Spain, that he was inspired to write while researching his second in Camino de Santiago. “Shadows, Shells, and Spain was first conceived while I was visiting the town of Estella, Spain during the research stage of my second book, Bulls, Bands, and London. Downtown Beeton Heritage Conservation District Study 

  Residents are invited to join the information workshop session on November 23 to learn more about the newly launched Downtown Beeton Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study. The purpose of the study is to examine the heritage significance of properties in a defined area and determine if designation of a Heritage Conservation District (HCD) within this area is warranted, desirable, and supported by the community.
