Stars Come Out this May

Barrie’s biggest live theatre night will be back May 8 when the annual Stars Come Out show is set to hit the stage again. The evening promises to be one packed with song, music and dance performed by stars of the most popular Toronto shows. Skilled trades a viable first choice pathway

 Several students from the Simcoe Muskoka District Catholic School Board (SMDCSB) will take part in this year’s Ontario Skilled Trades competition from May 1 to 3. Categories they will compete in are as follows: 2 and 3D animation (technology); TV/video (technology); baking; hairstyling; aesthetics; graphic design; prepared speech, photography (technology); carpentry; and cabinet making. The next step is the nationals but many go on to apprenticeships at Board and Provincial levels alone. Police Week celebrates 20th anniversary

Preparations for the 20th Anniversary of Police Week are well underway, with South Simcoe Police promising to leave attendees in awe with never before seen showcases. A huge turnout is expected at the open houses, which will be held in Bradford and Innisfil. Newly appointed Director of Education at Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB), Steven Blake brings several years’ experience working in Durham, Simcoe and BlueWater Districts.
